Nugent-Hopkins Leads Oilers to Second-Round Victory
Canucks Fall Short in Hard-Fought Battle
The Edmonton Oilers have punched their ticket to the second round of the 2024 NHL playoffs, eliminating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling Game 7 matchup at Rogers Arena.
After the Oilers forced a decisive Game 7 with a 5-1 victory in Game 6, the two teams battled back and forth in a tense affair. However, the Oilers seized control in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to take a commanding lead.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was a catalyst for the Oilers, notching a goal and an assist. Mattias Ekholm, Zach Hyman, and Evan Bouchard also found the back of the net for Edmonton.
Despite a late push by the Canucks, the Oilers held on to secure the 5-3 victory and advance to the second round, where they will face the winner of the series between the Colorado Avalanche and the Dallas Stars.
