Canada Defeats USA to Win Bronze at FIBA World Cup

Canada's Historic Run Ends with Thrilling Victory

Dillon Brooks Leads Canadian Comeback

MANILA, Philippines - In a thrilling overtime battle, Team Canada defeated the United States 127-118 to claim the bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Dillon Brooks was the star of the show for Canada, scoring a record-breaking 39 points and hitting 7-of-8 from the 3-point line.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading leads throughout regulation. The United States held a slight advantage going into the fourth quarter, but Canada rallied back to force overtime.

In overtime, Canada took control of the game. Brooks continued to score, while the rest of the team stepped up defensively. Canada held the United States to just 10 points in overtime, while scoring 19 of their own to seal the victory.

Brooks was named the TCL Player of the Game for his outstanding performance. He is the first Canadian to score over 30 points in a World Cup game, and his 39 points are the most ever scored by a Canadian in a single game.

Canada's bronze medal is their first medal at a FIBA World Cup since 1986. It is also the first time that a non-European or non-American team has won a medal at the World Cup since 1994.
