Bulls reunite with DeMar DeRozan to double down on offense
Efficient scoring machine returns to Chicago
The Bulls and DeMar DeRozan have agreed to a three-year, $85 million sign-and-trade deal, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The move reunites the two parties after DeRozan spent three seasons in Chicago from 2018 to 2021.
DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, averaged 27.9 points per game last season for the San Antonio Spurs. He also shot 49.5% from the field and 35.3% from three-point range.
The Bulls are hoping that DeRozan can help them take the next step after they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season. DeRozan is a proven scorer who can create his own shot, and he should be a good fit alongside Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.
The Bulls gave up Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, and a future first-round pick in the deal. Young is a solid veteran who can play both forward positions, while Aminu is a versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.
The Bulls' acquisition of DeRozan is a clear sign that they are trying to compete for a championship. They have now added two All-Stars in DeRozan and Lonzo Ball this offseason, and they should be one of the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference next season.
